Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon said on the 4th regarding the Constitutional Court's ruling on President Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment, "At last, the people have won. The 'light revolution' has triumphed."
Governor Kim held a press conference in the provincial government briefing room immediately after the Constitutional Court's ruling, evaluating it this way and noting, "The power that tried to destroy the Republic of Korea collapsed before the judgment of the people on Dec. 3 last year. Each and every citizen is the true owner of this country."
He added, "Although the insurrection leader has been dismissed, the road ahead is long," and stated, "We must establish the norms and systems of the country to ensure that the destructive acts against the democratic republic do not occur again and hold accountable the accomplices of the insurrection and the instigators of violence."
He continued, "In the face of an economic and livelihood crisis where we cannot predict even a moment ahead, everyone must gather their strength and wisdom," and emphasized, "Now we must end the division and hostility in Lee & Ko and unite the national energy to achieve an economic transformation."
Governor Kim remarked, "After the light revolution, the Republic of Korea must be completely transformed," adding, "We must open a new Republic of Korea where the dignity and rights of each and every citizen are respected and realized."
That morning, the Constitutional Court, in a unanimous decision among all judges, ruled on the National Assembly's impeachment trial of President Yoon and dismissed him.
