The voter turnout for the April 2nd by-elections to elect the Busan education chief and five local government heads was provisionally calculated at 26.27%.

According to the National Election Commission, 1,213,772 out of 4,629,08 registered voters completed their ballots during the voting held from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the 2nd. This includes the figures from the early voting conducted on March 28-29 (voter turnout of 7.94%).

Looking at the voter turnout by constituency, the mayor of Damyang County in South Jeolla Province had the highest turnout at 61.8%. This was followed by the mayor of Geoje in South Gyeongsang Province at 47.3%, the mayor of Gimcheon in North Gyeongsang Province at 46.4%, the mayor of Asan in South Chungcheong Province at 39.1%, the head of Guro District in Seoul at 25.9%, and the Busan education chief at 22.8%.

The provisional voter turnout, which closed at 8 p.m. that day, was 1.65 percentage points higher than the voter turnout (24.62%) from last year's October 16 by-elections.
