Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, the acting president, said on the 28th, “I will thoroughly review how vulnerable groups can proactively prepare for disasters such as wildfires, even excessively.”
On that day, Acting Prime Minister Han visited the integrated command center for the Andong wildfire and said, “I felt once again the need for proactive evacuation and preparation in this situation.”

Acting Prime Minister Han stated, “This wildfire is evaluated as the largest ever, surpassing the wildfire that occurred on the East Coast in 2000,” and said, “The number of casualties, evacuees, and the area affected are all at the largest damage level we have ever experienced.”
He continued, “I will discuss with the party and the National Assembly on how to quickly take all necessary measures for the people and how to boldly provide financial support,” and added, “We are here to completely overhaul wildfire measures to prepare for new climate change in all areas.”
He also urged, “The number of evacuees living in temporary shelters is large, and therefore the inconveniences are increasing,” and asked, “Please pay more attention to ensure that there are no shortcomings in providing temporary housing facilities and essential supplies by collaborating with relevant agencies.”
