The Democratic Party has decided to request an audit from the Board of Audit and Inspection regarding the preferential treatment allegations concerning Shim Woo-jung, the Prosecutor General, in hiring by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After Lee Jae-myung, the party leader, was acquitted in the second trial of a public election law violation case, there is an atmosphere of intensifying offensives against the Prosecutor's Office.

On the 27th, Democratic Party lawmaker Han Jeong-ae stated at a policy coordination meeting held at the tent office in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, that "there is a need for a thorough audit of the entire process of preferential hiring for the children of the Prosecutor General," adding, "The Democratic Party will request an audit from the Board of Audit and Inspection to reveal everything."

Lawmaker Han claimed that although the Prosecutor General's children did not meet the qualifications, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs conducted a tailored re-announcement and accepted them. The Ministry originally announced a job posting for research positions targeted at 'master’s degree holders in the economic field,' but explained that after disqualifying applicants, it changed the qualifications to 'holders of degrees in international politics,' which the children of the Prosecutor General majored in.

Lawmaker Han said, "Although it was said that the re-announcement was made due to a lack of applicants, there has been no case where the field of study was changed without extending the deadline. Thus far, the children of the Prosecutor General are the only ones." He emphasized, "For the children of the Prosecutor General, it is an extraordinary opportunity given by heaven, and when coincidences are repeated, it is no longer a coincidence," adding, "Young people feel a sense of helplessness, believing that in employment, the rich get richer while the poor get poorer; being without a background is a crime."

The Democratic Party is strengthening its offensives against the Prosecutor's Office after Lee Jae-myung received an acquittal in the second trial of the public election law violation case the previous day. There is a sense that political burdens regarding Prosecutor reform have been alleviated as judicial risks have been resolved. In particular, the Democratic Party believes that the Prosecutor's Office colluded with President Yoon's 'political assassination' to unjustly prosecute Lee Jae-myung, and is committed to actively promoting Prosecutor reform.

Jeon Hyun-hee, a senior member of the Democratic Party, met with reporters after the emergency general assembly the previous day and said, "Regarding the political abuse of prosecutorial power and the political Prosecutor's Office mobilized for the political assassination of the opposition party leader, the Democratic Party will actively pursue not only Prosecutor reform but also the disbandment of the Prosecutor's Office."
