Kim Jang-gyeom, a member of the People Power Party, held a one-man protest in front of the Constitutional Court on the 27th and said, "We must do our utmost to protect the fairness of the press with the dismissal of President Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment." Kim, who is a member of the party's media special committee, made this statement during the one-man protest calling for the dismissal of the impeachment motion against President Yoon in front of the Constitutional Court in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

Kim noted, "The impeachment motion against President Yoon is based on 'insurrection-raising' filled with distortion and incitement from specific media outlets such as MBC," adding, "It has been confirmed during the trial process that the memo from Hong Jang-won, which was sensationalized as key evidence of actual insurrection, and the statement from Kwak Jong-geun were contaminated."

He continued, "MBC reported, 'Recently, the military purchased an additional 3,000 temporary storage bags for corpses in preparation for the 12.3 martial law,' but upon verification, it turned out that the procurement of the storage bags was initiated in 2022, and the additional purchase was made on December 11 of last year, after the martial law had ended." He also stated, "The attempt to relate the purchase of storage bags, which has nothing to do with martial law, to martial law in order to mislead public opinion is a prime example of fabricated reporting."

Kim stated, "If the impeachment is upheld by the Constitutional Court, the governance of the Republic of Korea will continue to be shaken and sink due to the fabrications, distortions, and incitements of certain media and political factions." He urged the Constitutional Court to dismiss the impeachment motion against President Yoon in accordance with the law and principles, and to fulfill its responsibility to restore the democratic order of Korea and protect the fairness of the press.

Kim is a former journalist who joined MBC in 1987 and has held positions as department head of politics, news director, head of news headquarters, and president of MBC. This is the third time Kim has participated in a one-man protest in front of the Constitutional Court, following participation on the 25th of last month and the 7th.
