The Democratic Party of Korea urged Han Duck-soo, the Prime Minister and Acting President who returned to his duties after the impeachment was dismissed, to quickly appoint the candidate for constitutional judge, Ma Eun-hyeok. The party reiterated its call for the Constitutional Court to promptly set a date for the ruling on the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol.
Park Chan-dae, the floor leader of the Democratic Party, stated at an emergency meeting held at the party's tent in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, on the morning of the 25th, that "If the acting president does not immediately appoint the candidate Ma, it would constitute grounds for dismissal."
Park emphasized, "It has been 26 days since the Constitutional Court judged that the failure of the acting president to appoint the candidate Ma is unconstitutional," adding, "The acting president is strongly urged to appoint the candidate Ma today (25th) in accordance with the Constitutional Court's decision."
He also stated, "The acting president must fulfill the obligations to request the nominations of the candidates for the Permanent Special Investigative Commission on Insurrection, the Permanent Special Investigative Commission on Kim Keon-hee, and the Permanent Special Investigative Commission on Drug Enforcement, as stipulated by law," adding, "The fact that he has not been dismissed does not mean that there are no grounds for illegality."
He also called for a swift ruling on President Yoon's impeachment by the Constitutional Court. Park said, "Now that the ruling on the acting president has been completed, there is no reason for the Constitutional Court to delay the ruling on the insurrection leader Yoon Suk-yeol," and stated, "Today marks the 113th day since the outbreak of the 12·3 insurrection, the 102nd day since the passage of the impeachment motion, and the 29th day since the conclusion of the impeachment trial arguments."
He continued, "As the ruling is delayed, the trust and authority of the Constitutional Court will inevitably be damaged," and said, "The ruling should be made as soon as tomorrow. The Constitutional Court must fulfill its historic duty to dismiss the constitutional destroyer, Yoon Suk-yeol."
