Choi Sang-mok, Acting President and Minister of Economy and Finance, instructed on the 24th to "quickly proceed with follow-up consultations with the United States and sensitive countries by forming a government joint task force (TF) centered on related agencies."
On the same day, Choi, at a meeting on external economic issues held at the Government Seoul Complex in Jongno, Seoul, stated, "As the announcement of mutual tariffs from the United States is approaching, we must not ease tensions until the end."
He added, "We will actively explain our position to the U.S. side and seek ways for public-private cooperation."
Attending the meeting were Minister of Science and ICT Yoo Sang-im, Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Tae-yeol, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Ahn Duk-geun, Minister of Government Policy Coordination Bang Ki-sun, Director of the Presidential Secretariat Seong Tae-yoon, National Security Office Director Shin Won-sik, First Vice Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Park Sung-taek, and Chief of the Trade Negotiation Headquarters Jeong In-kyo.
Choi received a report on Ahn's recent visit to the United States, where he met with U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm and Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo. He also reviewed the U.S. government's trends related to the mutual tariff and item-specific tariffs to be announced on the 2nd (local time) next month and the government's response plans.
