Former Korean history lecturer Jeon Han-gil (real name Jeon Yu-gwan) noted that he has lost contact with friends after his political move. Jeon is advocating against the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol.
On the 23rd, Jeon spoke at the "Patriotic Citizens Rally Against Presidential Impeachment" held at Antioch Church in Seo-gu, Gwangju. About 500 people attended the worship-style event, and Jeon, along with lawmaker Yoon Sang-hyun of the People Power Party, presented arguments against the impeachment of the president.
Jeon stated, "The recent Gwangju rally was a historic event. Mayor Kang Ki-jung said that there is no place for far-right forces that undermine the spirit of May 18, but if the impeachment of the president is dismissed and he returns to his duties, the country will return to normal."
Jeon remarked, "After I started politics, I became an enemy with friends. They don’t contact me anymore, and my closest friend called me trash," adding, "They just don’t see it yet. When the impeachment crisis ends, they will think, 'Oh, this is the right way.' and we will unite."
He continued, "Since starting in politics, all YouTube revenue has gone to the editor, and I have never taken a single penny," and added, "My family must be happy, but they are fearful and opposed. My wife is asking for a divorce. Jeon Han-gil is losing too much."
He emphasized, "This fight is not about ideology but about protecting liberal democracy," and stated, "We need to prevent the impeachment of President Yoon to restore the national system through his return to duty."
Jeon also emphasized the importance of public opinion surveys in Honam. He claimed, "As both the Democratic Party and his support rating decreases, Representative Lee Jae-myung has pressured left-leaning polling organizations like Realmeter and Gallup Korea to do it right," adding, "Therefore, I believe that public opinion surveys are all cleaned before being announced. However, surveys in Honam always show high ratings for the Democratic Party, so they do not clean the figures."
Meanwhile, the emergency action group "Immediate Exit for Yoon Suk-yeol and Social Reform" held the 19th Gwangju Citizens' Rally on the afternoon of the previous day at the 5·18 Democracy Square. An estimated 2,000 citizens gathered at the square, including Gwangju Mayor Kang Ki-jung, district heads from the five autonomous districts of Gwangju, and some members of regional and local councils.
In the meantime, the Constitutional Court dismissed the National Assembly's impeachment motion against Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, which was submitted for impeachment judgment on that day. As a result, Prime Minister Han will return to duty and carry out the acting presidential responsibilities.
