On the 24th, National Assembly member Ahn Cheol-soo of the People Power Party reiterated his demand for Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party, to retire from politics.
Member Ahn noted during the CBS Radio program 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' on the morning of the same day, "Given that the candidate is currently on trial, how can voters make an accurate judgment when it's uncertain whether there will be a guilty or not guilty verdict?" He added, "If everything is concluded and he is acquitted, then he should step out at that time." This came a day after he urged the leader to conclude his political career.
He emphasized that a 'coalition against Lee Jae-myung' can win in the upcoming presidential election. He stated, "Not only myself, but I know several candidates are preparing as well," and added, "As long as everyone's unified in thinking that Lee must not become president, regardless of differing opinions, they are undoubtedly on our side. We must surpass 50% to win."
Regarding the impeachment ruling scheduled for 10 a.m. concerning Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, he stated, "Many people expect it will be dismissed," and emphasized, "If it is dismissed, the leader must apologize."
Concerning the pension reform bill passed by the National Assembly on the 20th through an agreement between the ruling and opposition parties, he stated that the government should re-amend it after exercising its right to demand reconsideration (veto authority), which includes the introduction of an automatic adjustment mechanism. Member Ahn emphasized, "The reform plan itself is incomplete. Raising the contribution rate to 13% is the right direction, but maintaining an income replacement rate of 40% is also correct."
