Park Chan-dae, the floor leader of the Democratic Party, noted on the 23rd that “the Democratic Party will install a tent office in Gwanghwamun starting tomorrow and operate it,” adding, “Until the Constitutional Court rules on the impeachment of Yoon Suk-yeol, the Democratic Party will fight alongside the people in the plaza.”
On this day, the floor leader said at a National Assembly press conference, “The Gwanghwamun tent office will serve as a base for the impeachment of the insurrection leader and the normalization of the Republic of Korea.”
The floor leader stated, “It has been 111 days since the 12.3 insurrection incident occurred. As the Constitutional Court's ruling is delayed, the anxiety of the people and social chaos are increasing,” and added, “As a body that safeguards the Constitution, the Constitutional Court has to responsibly put an end to this chaos.” He also urged, “I call for a decision to impeach (President Yoon Suk-yeol) even by the 25th,” mentioning that a ruling on the impeachment motion against Prime Minister Han Duck-soo is scheduled for the 25th.
Additionally, the Democratic Party said it would also push for a full assembly of the National Assembly's Commissioner.
The floor leader stated, “The Democratic Party is pushing for a resolution urging the Constitutional Court to issue a prompt ruling and is also promoting a full assembly of the National Assembly to address this.”
Regarding the impeachment motion against Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choi Sang-mok, he explained that “Deputy Prime Minister Choi has continued criminal acts that violate the constitutional order for nearly three months,” and warned, “If today's crimes are not punished, greater crimes will occur tomorrow.”
He further criticized, “Kweon Seong-dong, the floor leader of the People Power Party, openly threatened Deputy Prime Minister Choi not to comply with the Constitutional Court's decision. It is said that he plans to accuse Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung of coercion for urging compliance with the Constitutional Court's decision,” asserting that the People Power Party has shown itself to be a party lacking the will to uphold the constitutional order and a force complicit in insurrection. “They must take responsibility,” he emphasized.
