President Yoon Suk-yeol, who was indicted on charges of insurrection, has decided not to attend the criminal trial preparation date scheduled for the 24th.
On the 22nd, President Yoon's legal team stated, "The president will not attend the second trial date for the criminal case scheduled for Monday," and noted, "The attorneys will attend the related proceedings to express their opinions on the charges, procedures, and evidence, and to move forward."
The 25th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court, led by Director General Ji Gwi-yeon, will hold the second trial preparation session for President Yoon's insurrection charges at 10 a.m. on the 24th. The trial preparation session is a process that coordinates hearing plans prior to the formal trial. This session is the first trial held since the court accepted President Yoon's request for release from detention on the 7th.
President Yoon previously attended the first trial preparation session held on the 20th of last month, when he was still in custody, appearing in court to observe the proceedings.
