Former People Power Party representative Han Dong-hoon said on the 20th, 'We need to be able to solve various problems we have and achieve universal welfare through the AI revolution.'
On this day, former representative Han appeared on the economic YouTube channel 'Shin Sa-im-dang' and, in a conversation with AI expert Dr. Ha Jung-woo, pointed out the issue of wealth concentration if jobless growth continues due to AI innovation.
He emphasized, 'In the end, working hours will be reduced. This is also the goal we should strive for. The problem remains of how to properly distribute the created wealth and how much to spend; the AI revolution ultimately needs to go together with welfare policy.'
He noted, 'General Artificial Intelligence (AGI) feels like a complete person,' adding, 'Some say AGI will arrive within three years. I argue that the person who will be the next president must finish their term and open a new era in three years; the AI era may also have its outcomes in three years. We really need to get serious and focus.'
He emphasized that to enhance AI competitiveness, it is urgent to secure resources such as graphic processing units (GPUs), talent, power, and data, which are core to computing power.
Former representative Han stated, 'In terms of the computing power problem, securing GPUs is essential,' and he mentioned that 'an AI computing center is also necessary.'
He further stated that excessive restrictions or regulations must lower participation barriers for corporations. Specifically regarding data regulations, he pointed out, 'In the UK, they say they operate something like a safety zone. It is necessary to resolve issues related to intellectual property rights and personal information, even if it means operating such a system.'
Regarding talent cultivation, he said, 'We need to create opportunities and an atmosphere to have successful role models,' emphasizing the importance of ensuring that nurtured talent does not emigrate.
He also suggested, 'Incentives are needed to attract young talent,' adding, 'Adjustments such as military service exemptions need to be made according to the characteristics of AI.'
Former representative Han warned, 'We must not repeat the experience of losing a country due to differences in productivity during the past industrial revolution,' stating, 'We have a duty to ride the AI revolution and be the protagonists of the AI revolution. We must have a sense of mission. This is an important revolutionary period that comes once in several hundred years, and we need to think differently about issues like regulations, government investment, concentration, and treatment of talent. This is not a matter of political faction.'
