Park Chan-dae, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 20th at a meeting with reporters in the main building of the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, that "a decision has been made to initiate impeachment procedures regarding Acting President Choi Sang-mok, who also serves as the Minister of Economy and Finance."

Park noted, "I gave a final notice to appoint Ma Eun-hyeok at yesterday's general meeting of lawmakers, but Acting Prime Minister Choi did not appoint Ma Eun-hyeok," adding, "As violations of the Constitution continue, we can no longer overlook this."

He continued, "Yesterday, many lawmakers expressed opinions during the general assembly that we should proceed with impeachment, and the final decision has been delegated to the leadership," stating, "We have decided to initiate impeachment procedures regarding Choi Sang-mok without overlooking these constitutional violations."

Park also said, "Today, we discussed that part with the speaker, and we agreed to further negotiate on the specific procedures and timing."
