A poll released on the 20th indicated that 60% of respondents believed the Constitutional Court should accept the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol and remove him from office, while 35% thought the impeachment should be dismissed, allowing him to return to his duties.
A nationwide survey conducted by Embrain, K-Stat Research, Korea Research, and Korea Research Institute from the 17th to the 19th on 1,003 men and women aged 18 and older gathered this data.
Compared to the Jeonju survey, the opinion that impeachment should be accepted rose by 5 percentage points (p), while the opinion that it should be dismissed fell by 4%p.
Regarding the outlook on the judgment results, 57% expected "removal after acceptance of impeachment," which is a 4% point increase from the previous survey. The response anticipating "return to duty after dismissal of impeachment" was 34%, down 4%p from the last survey.
The response indicating trust in the Constitutional Court’s judgment results recorded 60%, a 9%p increase from the previous week. Meanwhile, the response indicating distrust in the Constitutional Court's results fell by 9%p to 36%.
When asked whether they would accept the Constitutional Court’s impeachment judgment results, 55% responded that they would accept it even if it differed from their opinion, while 42% said they would not.
Regarding President Yoon's response to the impeachment trial, 33% answered that he is doing well, while 61% said he is not.
Additionally, support for political parties recorded 32% for the People Power Party and 38% for the Democratic Party. For the suitability of the next president, Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung recorded 33%, Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo 10%, and both Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo recorded 5% each.
The NBS survey was conducted through phone interviews using virtual mobile numbers (100%), with a margin of error of ±3.1%p at a 95% confidence level. The response rate was 21.1%. For more details, refer to the website of the National Election Opinion Survey Review Committee.
