The Democratic Party of Korea argued on the 15th that the United States added South Korea to a 'sensitive country list' that could restrict cooperation on advanced technologies such as nuclear power and artificial intelligence (AI) in January, expressing concerns about cracks in the Korea-U.S. alliance and stating that normalization through the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol is necessary.

Spokesperson Kim Sung-hoi noted during a briefing that, "You say it’s a top-level Korea-U.S. alliance, and now it’s designated as a sensitive country? The dangerous regime that is shaking both the nation and the Korea-U.S. alliance must be quickly impeached and ended." Spokesperson Kim stated, "The Korea-U.S. alliance, which is a major pillar of security, is experiencing cracks," adding, "Experts analyze that the reason for the designation as a sensitive country is the comments about 'self-nuclear armament' and securing nuclear potential made by Yoon Suk-yeol and politicians from the People Power Party."

Spokesperson Kim stated, "Normalizing the Republic of Korea and once again managing national security begins with the swift impeachment of the fool who forgot the weight of the presidency and went to the United States to talk about 'self-nuclear armament capability,' as the chief of a rebellion." He demanded, "The Constitutional Court should deeply consider this point and deliver a swift judgment."

Members of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee from the Democratic Party and Justice Party also held an emergency press conference in Gwanghwamun, pointing out, "What has the government done during this time? Accountability must be assigned to the intelligence agencies and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for failing to fulfill their roles."

He continued, "We must make every effort to obtain the withdrawal of the sensitive country designation within the remaining month until implementation. The Democratic Party will also lend its strength," adding, "Yoon Suk-yeol, the root cause of all this chaos, must be immediately impeached to restore the Republic of Korea as a normal state and to rebuild the foreign affairs and security control tower."
