The government urged Homeplus, which has entered a court management (corporate rehabilitation process), to clearly present its payment plan for delivery fees. It requested that supplying corporations maintain regular transactions with confidence.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held a meeting on the afternoon of the 13th, chaired by Deputy Minister Oh Seung-cheol, with representatives from Homeplus and supplying corporations. At the meeting, Deputy Minister Oh noted, “Maintaining normal transactions is currently the most important task,” and emphasized that “it is essential for Homeplus to secure the trust of supplying corporations.”
This meeting was arranged in light of the fact that, following the court's approval for the repayment of rehabilitation claims on the 7th, many corporations have resumed deliveries to Homeplus, yet they are still expressing anxiety about payment.
On this day, the Ministry focused on specifically understanding the status of supplying corporations for Homeplus and listening to their proposals during the meeting.
Deputy Minister Oh stated, “Homeplus must clearly and transparently present its payment plan so that the supplying corporations can trust it and deliver securely.”
Homeplus stated that it is currently making sequential payments for trade claims and that, since the initiation date of the rehabilitation process on the 4th, it has been paying for transaction fees regularly.
He added, “We will ensure that our partners do not suffer from this rehabilitation process,” and stated, “We will establish a detailed payment plan and communicate with each partner to minimize anxiety and inconvenience.”
