Kweon Seong-dong, the floor leader of the People Power Party, noted during a meeting with President Yoon Suk-yeol on the 9th, emphasizing on the 11th, "Let's protect the livelihood against the forces of civil war."
The floor leader said in a general meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of that day, "The day before yesterday, I visited the president at the Hanam-dong residence with Chairman Kwon Young-dae. (President Yoon) fortunately appeared to be healthy," and added, "(President Yoon said, 'I am fine, but I will only think of the people and the country'), showing a very calm demeanor. He also expressed his feelings of regret and gratitude to the party and lawmakers."
He emphasized the need for unity to ensure national stability. The floor leader said, "Yesterday, March 10th, marked the 3rd anniversary of President Yoon Suk-yeol's election. Many of you here have made great efforts alongside our party members to establish the Yoon administration. Now, three years later, the president is in a state of suspension. It is heartbreaking," and added, "However, we cannot stop just because it is painful. Let's unite our strength to protect the safety of people's livelihoods against Lee Jae-myung's civil war forces."
The floor leader stressed, "As a responsible ruling party, we must calmly and orderly navigate through the chaos caused by the civil war leadership of Lee Jae-myung, leading to social unrest. Stability is the first priority and stability is the second priority."
Regarding the release of President Yoon, he said, "I hope this ruling will serve as an opportunity for our society to reflect on the importance of guaranteeing the defendant's right to defense and protecting human rights."
He reiterated his warning about pushing for the abolition of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO). The floor leader said, "The central district court's decision to cancel the arrest order pointed out the issue of CIO having no investigation authority for the crime of rebellion," and added, "The primary responsibility for all this chaos lies with the CIO, which mobilized thousands of police officers to arrest and detain the president. The People Power Party will definitely hold CIO Director Oh Dong-woon legally accountable, and we will certainly abolish the CIO, which is a hotbed of illegality and incompetence."
Towards the Constitutional Court ahead of the impeachment ruling for President Yoon, the floor leader said, "I hope you will consider thoroughly and leave no procedural flaws." He further noted, "Impeachment of the president is a historically significant ruling. A fair ruling is more important than a quick ruling. If a ruling is rushed without sufficient verification of evidence and testimony, it will leave a disgraceful mark in the history of the Constitutional Court."
