Park Chan-dae, the floor leader of the Democratic Party, said on the 10th, “The prosecutor general, Shim Woo-jung, must resign immediately for aiding evidence destruction and being responsible for helping the suspect escape.”

On that day, Park said at the National Assembly's Supreme Committee meeting, “The prosecution should be seen as having aided the suspect's escape. The prosecutor general, Shim Woo-jung, is the root cause of this entire situation.”

He noted, “(Shim) unnecessarily delayed the indictment and allowed the escape of the suspect, providing time for evidence destruction. If there is any sense of decency, (Shim) should apologize. If there is a conscience, (Shim) should resign instead of being disgraceful.”

Along with this, he urged the Constitutional Court to expedite its impeachment decision.

Park said, “The declaration of martial law on 12/3 was an attempt to destroy the constitutional order and democracy of the Republic of Korea,” and added, “If the martial law had succeeded, it is clear that the constitution and laws would have been completely invalidated, and Korea would have become a backward country, a dictatorship with rampant terrorism.”

He emphasized, “The Constitutional Court, as the highest institution for constitutional interpretation, is the last bastion of the constitution and democracy,” and noted, “The Constitutional Court has a heavy responsibility to resolve the current chaos.”

Park also summarized the five issues raised during the impeachment process.

He stated, “The declaration of martial law on 12/3 was unconstitutional and illegal, and the first proclamation was unconstitutional. It has been confirmed that police were mobilized to control the National Assembly, and the military was deployed to invade constitutional institutions such as the National Assembly and the Election Commission.”

He further questioned, “There were instructions for the arrest of politicians and the judiciary, and has it not been confirmed that Yoon Seok-youl has no will to uphold the constitution?” and reiterated, “The Constitutional Court has ample grounds and reasons to dismiss Yoon Seok-youl.”

Park said, “It has been two weeks since the impeachment proceedings concluded. For the sake of minimizing national confusion and damage, and to protect the constitutional order and democracy, I request a prompt decision with the people.”

He added, “Each decision of the Constitutional Court justices determines whether Korea remains a democratic state where the constitutional order functions or falls into a dictatorship where the constitutional order is paralyzed. I hope you will decide promptly based solely on the constitution and your conscience.”
