Chairperson Kwon Young-se of the People Power Party said on the 7th that he welcomed the court's decision to cancel the detention of President Yoon Suk-yeol, who is in custody on charges of being the 'leader of rebellion.' He noted, 'Although it is late, it is a very good decision.' He also stated, 'Considering the defendant's right to defense, he should not have been detained in the first place.'

The Chairperson met with reporters at the National Assembly that day and remarked, 'Yesterday at the emergency committee meeting, I pointed out the issues and said it should be canceled, so I think it's good that it happened.' He continued, 'I greatly welcome that the detention has been canceled now,' adding, 'I hope the prosecution has no objections.'

Regarding the impact of the court's acceptance of the cancellation of detention on future constitutional court impeachment trial rulings, he simply stated, 'It seems like a part I should not comment on.' He also mentioned there are no plans for the party to visit the detention center to meet the released President Yoon.
