Choi Sang-mok, acting president and Minister of Strategy and Finance, said on the 7th, "We plan to designate two additional 'universities focused on youth entrepreneurship' centered outside the capital region."
On that day, Acting President Choi held a 'youth luncheon meeting' at the Central Youth Support Center in Jongno-gu, Seoul, noting, "The current situation is harder than ever for employment or entrepreneurship due to recent domestic economic stagnation and increasing uncertainties."
The meeting was attended by Kim Moon-soo, Minister of Employment and Labor, Oh Youngju, Minister of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and Startups, Bang Ki-seon, head of the Office for Government Policy Coordination, Ko Gi-dong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Interior and Safety, and 13 young people.
Acting President Choi said, "Young people are the main players living today's Republic of Korea while simultaneously creating tomorrow," adding, "The voices of young people and future generations must be actively reflected in all policies, including jobs, low birth rates, national debt, and pension finances." He continued, "Today's meeting is meant to establish such policies."
He added, "The recent increase in young people taking a break from work is a very significant loss to the nation," stating, "The government is supporting a smooth entry into the labor market for young people so that they do not stop and can move forward, and is also strengthening the entrepreneurship ecosystem."
Acting President Choi remarked, "The government is providing tailored 1-on-1 employment services to young people through the 'Youth Employment All-Care Platform,' which more than 1.3 million university students have agreed to provide information," and added, "In addition, we will support young people's smooth entry into the labor market and strengthen the entrepreneurship ecosystem through expanded job-related experience in high-demand fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) and information and communication technology (ICT), as well as by increasing the establishment of youth startup funds."
