Opposition potential candidate Im Jong-suk, former chief of staff to President Moon Jae-in, noted, "I hope they will consider the experiences of those who prepared for the early Moon Jae-in government while holding elections, if the early presidential election is confirmed."

According to the political circles on the 5th, the former chief of staff stated the day before (4th) during a lecture on Korean Peninsula peace held in a certain place in Jung-gu, Seoul, that, "The difference in the North Korean policy of the Moon Jae-in government (compared to other governments) is that it approached the North-South relations as well as the U.S.-North Korea and South Korea-U.S. relations structurally." He also said, "There was the situation of a COVID-19 shutdown after the failure of the Hanoi summit, but it is very regrettable that their contact practically stopped."

He continued, "Peace and the improvement of North-South relations do not just come. It is done by prepared people," adding, "Prepared people must have a plan to persuade North Korea, the U.S., China, and Russia for it to be possible, but I am worried whether the Democratic Party is being prepared for that right now."

The former chief of staff expressed hope that if an early presidential election occurs, the experiences of the Moon Jae-in government will be considered, stating, "Even if I have to mediate, I will strive to ensure that the content prepared at that time maintains continuity." He also commented on Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, saying, "Now he knows the U.S. well. It is different now compared to when we mediated when he had never met them."
