The Ministry of National Defense has additionally suspended the duties of soldiers who were indicted without detention in relation to the 12·3 state of emergency on the 4th.
On this day, the Ministry of National Defense noted that it had carried out a separate dispatch for the suspension of duties of three individuals, including Defense Ministry Investigation Headquarters Director General Park Heon-soo (Major General), 1st Airborne Special Operations Brigade Commander Lee Sang-hyun (Brigadier General), and 707th Special Mission Group Commander Kim Hyun-tae (Colonel).
These individuals were among those indicted without detention by prosecutors on the 28th of last month for involvement in the blockade of the National Assembly and the operation of arrest teams during the state of emergency, including Kim Dae-woo, Commander of the Army Defense Intelligence Command (Brigadier General), Ko Dong-hee, Director of the Army Intelligence Command (Colonel), Kim Bong-kyu, Central Newspaper Commander (Colonel), and Jeong Seong-wook, 100th Brigade 2 Project Commander (Colonel). In the case of Kim Hyun-tae and two others, personnel actions were taken three days after their indictment without detention.
Previously, Kim Dae-woo, the Commander, along with Ko Dong-hee, the Director, Kim Bong-kyu, the Commander, and Jeong Seong-wook, the Commander, had already been suspended. The Ministry of National Defense stated, "Additional personnel measures, such as removal from duty and leave of absence due to indictment, will be considered for the seven generals and colonels who were indicted without detention as of February 28, according to relevant laws and regulations."
Earlier, major commanders of the state of emergency forces, including Lee In-hyung, Defense Intelligence Commander (Lieutenant General), Lee Jin-woo, Commander of the Capital Defense Command (Lieutenant General), Kwak Jong-geun, Special Warfare Commander (Lieutenant General), and Moon Sang-ho, Intelligence Commander (Major General), were also removed from their positions following their suspension.
