The leadership of the People Power Party will visit former President Park Geun-hye on the 3rd. This will be the first meeting between the ruling party's leadership and former President Park since the 'Kwon Young-se emergency committee' was established.
According to the People Power Party on the 2nd, Chairperson Kwon Young-se, floor leader Kweon Seong-dong, and Policy Council Chairperson Kim Sang-hoon will visit former President Park Geun-hye at her residence in Daegu's Dalseong County on the afternoon of the 3rd.
Chairperson Kwon and floor leader Kweon are expected to seek advice on how to handle both internal and external party issues in light of the Constitutional Court's ruling on the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol.
This is the first meeting since the launch of the 'Kwon Young-se system' at the end of last year amidst the impeachment crisis. Former President Park has maintained a distance by minimizing meetings with active politicians. A ruling party official noted, "The visit to former President Park may help unify the support base that held resentment over the presidential impeachment."
Previously, Chairperson Kwon and floor leader Kweon respectively visited former President Lee Myung-bak on the 27th and 17th of last month, emphasizing the ruling party's unity and integration. Among the ruling party's presidential contenders, Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo and Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo also met with former President Lee.
