Former People's Power leader Han Dong-hoon said on the 25th, regarding the collapse of a construction site on the Seoul-Sejong Expressway, "I pray with the citizens that everyone returns safely."
Han noted on Facebook that day, "I just heard news of casualties due to the collapse of the structure. I hope that everyone does their best in the rapid rescue operation to save precious lives."
Earlier that day, around 9:49 a.m., a structural collapse occurred at a construction site on the Seoul-Sejong Expressway in Ipjang-myeon, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan City, South Chungcheong Province. Fire authorities estimate that 10 workers at the nearby construction site have been trapped and are conducting rescue operations.
Former leader Han is set to publish his book, "The People Come First," on the 28th and return to politics. The book is reported to include various behind-the-scenes stories from the period right after the Dec. 3 martial law until his resignation as leader.
