Kwon Young-se, Chairperson of the People Power Party's emergency response committee, pointed out on the 24th that there is a discrepancy between Lee Jae-myung's 'pro-corporations' message and actual policy direction, urging cooperation in urgently processing livelihood legislation.
Chairperson Kwon noted during a party committee meeting held at the National Assembly that, 'Lee's remarks and attitudes regarding the economy reveal a lack of understanding of the national economy and a poverty of policy philosophy.'
He criticized, 'In front of corporations, (Lee) poses as a pro-business conservative politician, saying, “The growth of corporations is all about economic growth” and has no response to the question of why they can't work intensively. Then, he immediately turns around and meets with the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, stating, “We need a four-day workweek” and “Reducing the highest inheritance tax rate is a huge tax cut for the super-rich,” revealing his true nature as a far-left politician.'
'He added, “While claiming to save corporations, he pushes forth the yellow envelope law that kills corporations, and while saying he is saving the economy, he promotes a revision bill for commercial law that reduces economic vitality. He claims to reduce the real estate inheritance tax but is immovable on reducing corporate inheritance tax,' pointing out that the introduction of an exception to the working hour limit under the semiconductor special law also shifted its stance due to union opposition.
Chairperson Kwon also remarked, '(Lee) is arguing for a tax cut policy while stating, “Corporations should also receive tax credits. A tax cut for earners is also necessary,” and at the same time says he will distribute 250,000 won in cash to all citizens,' adding, 'If taxes are reduced, government revenue will also decrease, so where will that money come from? Giving away blood taxes while also promising a tax cut is a statement that indicates a disregard for future generations, saying he will ruin the national treasury.'
'He pointed out, 'The uniform 52-hour workweek, the sharp rise in the minimum wage, and the elimination of non-regular workers pushed by the Democratic Party have all imposed a significant burden on our economy; does he not feel any sense of responsibility?'
He further stated regarding Lee's recent moves, 'The indecisive Lee is more dangerous. If the existing Democratic Party was regressing, then Lee is driving recklessly, even while intoxicated, creating total chaos on the road,' adding, 'If you want to copy (conservative policies), you have to do it properly. If you look at someone else's answer sheet and only copy what you like, you will stray even further from the correct answer.'
'He urged, 'If Lee truly intends to revive the economy, he must first focus on urgently processing livelihood legislation in collaboration with the government and ruling party.'
