SR noted on the 20th that it has requested an investigation from the police after identifying 9 members suspected of using a macro program to quickly carry out repetitive tasks and purchase high-speed rail tickets in bulk.
According to SR, these 9 individuals accessed the ticket reservation system more than 1 million times per person from the 13th, when the New Year holiday ticket reservations began, until the 2nd of this month, when the holiday was over. The total number of access attempts made by the 9 individuals reached 64 million, with one person attempting access 31 million times.
SR also reported to the police that it discovered 182 cases of suspected ticket reselling transactions occurring on online second-hand marketplaces such as carrot market, Joongonara, and Bungeejump.
A macro program refers to a program that specifies the order of mouse movements and key inputs to quickly retry a certain pattern. It is known to be frequently used for purchasing tickets for popular singers' concerts.
SR explained that using macro programs constitutes an act of obstructing business, causing overload on the reservation system and limiting legitimate reservation opportunities for other customers.
SR has revised its passenger transport terms and conditions to allow the revocation of membership for users suspected of using macro programs or repeatedly canceling tickets after bulk purchases.
