Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, noted on the 18th, "Calling us right-wing is a frame," adding, "Moving forward, the Democratic Party must take on the center-right and occupy the right side."
That day at around 8 p.m., Lee appeared on the YouTube channel "Saenal" and said, "We are not progressive," noting, "In fact, we hold a position that is about center-right. The progressive camp needs to be newly established."
Lee stated, "Look at the People Power Party. They are complicit in destroying constitutional order and lack common sense," adding, "Becoming the ruling party and not presenting policies while trying to stifle the opposition is not conservative."
He continued, "Conservatives are a group that protects sound order and values, but they are destroying the core of that sound order and value, which is the constitutional order," adding, "How could they not be called a criminal party?"
Regarding the 'exception to the 52-hour workweek' provision in the semiconductor special law, Lee referred to the discussions within the party and the progressive camp pointing out it as a 'right turn,' stating, "We did not make a right turn. We have always been where we belong," explaining, "Calling us a right turn is a frame."
Lee also conveyed that he received a request from the court to submit documentation stating that he does not wish for punishment and forgives Kim (68), who recently received a 15-year prison sentence from the Supreme Court for attacking him with a weapon last year, saying, "I don't know if he requested it, but the request came to me to submit it to the court."
He continued, "The sentence was simply rendered, but what I thought at that time was, if it were a personal matter, as someone said, 'What does it matter if he didn't die?' I could think that 15 years was too much," adding, "But then, wouldn’t it be someone else who would do such a thing? We must show that severe punishment will be upheld."
