On the 17th, People Power Party Emergency Response Committee Chairperson Kwon Young-se said regarding the ‘President Yoon Suk-yeol resignation theory’ raised as a solution for national stability in some political circles, “I think it is not realistically being considered, and even if it is being considered, it is not the right way.”
Chairperson Kwon attended a discussion hosted by the ‘Kwanhun Club’, an organization of former and current journalists, held at the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, and responded to a question, “Separately from the issue of whether it is legally possible, there is an opinion that President Yoon should clarify his position politically on his own exit, what is your stance?”
Chairperson Kwon stated, “Regardless of whether resignation is legally possible, I do not think that all issues can be resolved if he resigns,” and added, “It would not be appropriate because the same problems could arise.”
He also mentioned, “The theory of resignation was triggered by the (President Yoon's) legal team saying that they could make a ‘significant decision’,” and asserted, “However, the portion regarding resignation is a significant decision of the President himself, not something for the legal team to decide.”
