Park Jumin, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, visited the graduation ceremony of Chungam High School and encouraged the students by saying, "You have not done anything wrong. There is no need to feel discouraged." Chungam High School is the alma mater of President Yoon Suk Yeol.
According to the political circles on the 11th, Park Jumin mentioned in his graduation speech released on his YouTube channel 'Park Jumin TV' on the 6th that, "Recently, events have unfolded in such a way that unexpectedly, Chungam High School students have experienced things they should not have had to endure."
He continued, "I believe that people like me who are in politics have done wrong, and I sincerely apologize for that."
Chungam High School is the alma mater of President Yoon Suk Yeol (Class of 8), as well as former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong Hyun (Class of 7), former Army Intelligence Commander Yeo In Hyung (Class of 17), and former Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang Min (Class of 12), who were involved in the 12·3 martial law incident.
Member Park has his electoral district (Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul) in the area of Eungam-dong, where Chungam High School is located.
Member Park stated, "Although I am not an alumnus of Chungam High School, I am one of those who have learned through Chungam High School," and added, "During the process of resolving the 'Chungam High School meal corruption' incident when I first began as a member of the National Assembly in Eunpyeong, I gained various insights."
Member Park added, "I learned how to gather wisdom and unite strength with others, and through discussion, problems that seem unsolvable can actually be resolved. I sincerely thank the students and all those involved with Chungam High School."
Finally, he said, "Now you will step into a broader society, and you will feel more deeply how precious and grateful the friends you have made, the teachers who have guided you, and your parents truly are," and noted, "As long as you have these grateful people in your hearts, I believe you can navigate through difficult times even better. I sincerely congratulate you on your graduation."
