The African swine fever (ASF) Central Accident Management Headquarters announced on the 28th that ASF has emerged at a pig farm located in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province.
The headquarters confirmed ASF after receiving reports of increased pig mortality at the farm, which raises about 4,450 pigs, and conducting a thorough examination.
Since the first reported case of ASF this year at a pig farm in Yangju on the 20th, an additional case of ASF has emerged in the same area after eight days.
To prevent the spread of ASF, the headquarters has dispatched initial quarantine teams and epidemiological investigation teams to the farm to control access. The pigs raised at this farm are planned to be culled.
The headquarters has issued a temporary movement restriction order for livestock facility workers and vehicles in Yangju and six adjacent cities and counties (Yeoncheon, Pocheon, Dongducheon, Uijeongbu, Goyang, Paju) until 6 p.m. on the 29th.
