The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs held a meeting with major smart farm export corporations to discuss ways to expand into the Middle East.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs on the 19th, the ministry held a meeting on the 17th in Seoul with major smart farm export corporations, related agencies, and associations to review the current status and plans for exports and contracts in the Middle East this year. Participants included the Korea Smart Farm Industry Association, Korea-Saudi Arabia Industry and Trade Association, Korea Rural Development Administration, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), and seven smart farm export corporations.
The Korea Smart Farm Association and the Korea-Saudi Arabia Industry and Trade Association signed a business agreement during the event to support the entry of Korean smart farms into the Middle East. The two associations plan to actively cooperate in various fields, including ▲ resolving export difficulties for our corporations in the Middle East ▲ attracting investment for our corporations ▲ and enhancing mutual exchanges between the industries of both countries. It is expected that the combination of the broader networks and experience of the Korea-Saudi Arabia Industry and Trade Association with the industrial expertise of the Smart Farm Association will accelerate the entry of Korean smart farms into the Middle East.
The government noted, "There are procurement and operational discussions between parties that are causing delays in the contract worth $166 million," adding, "If the contract is finalized, this year's smart farm export and contract performance will improve compared to last year."
During the meeting, the government listened to the field difficulties faced by corporations to ensure that the delayed contracts in the Middle East lead to actual results quickly. It also discussed various support measures in collaboration with related agencies and associations.
