The National Tax Service will provide tax support to victims and bereaved families of the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster at Muan International Airport in South Jeolla, as well as to taxpayers in Muan County, South Jeolla, designated as a special disaster area.
The National Tax Service will establish a 'Disaster Victim Support Center' at Muan Airport to support victims and their families, providing 24-hour tax consultations.
For taxpayers residing in the special disaster area (Muan County, South Jeolla), whose businesses have been affected by this accident, the deadline for payment of value-added taxes, corporate tax, and comprehensive income tax is extended by up to two years.
Even already assessed taxes can have their payment deadlines extended by up to two years. For taxpayers in the special disaster area with outstanding tax payments, the sale of seized assets is postponed for up to two years.
The National Tax Service plans to expedite the payment of value-added tax refunds for the bereaved families of the victims and other tax support recipients, including businesses located in the special disaster area of Muan County, South Jeolla.
For taxpayers currently undergoing tax audits, if they apply for a deferral or suspension of the audit, it will be actively considered.
Kang Min-su, Commissioner of the National Tax Service, after offering condolences at the 'Passenger Plane Accident Joint Memorial' set up at Sejong City Hall, said, “We will do our utmost for the swift resolution of the accident and support for the bereaved families.”
