The government will provide subsidies for the purchase of 11,000 hydrogen passenger cars, 2,000 hydrogen buses, 10 hydrogen freight trucks, and 10 hydrogen street cleaners this year. The budget for supporting the distribution of hydrogen vehicles is 721.8 billion won.
The Ministry of Environment announced on the 1st that it will finalize the guidelines for the hydrogen electric vehicle distribution business subsidy on the 2nd and promote the hydrogen vehicle support project for 2025.
The Ministry of Environment has mandated manufacturers to expand hydrogen bus maintenance centers and provide emergency on-site services to ensure hydrogen buses can be quickly repaired in case of breakdowns. Manufacturers must establish at least one hydrogen bus maintenance center in every region where hydrogen buses are distributed.
Last year, the Ministry of Environment focused on promoting hydrogen vehicles for commercial use, resulting in the distribution of more than 1,000 hydrogen buses. However, the distribution of hydrogen passenger cars was sluggish due to expectations for new model releases.
