The Ministry of Strategy and Finance announced on the 29th that the schedule for the '2025 Economic Policy Direction,' initially expected to be announced earlier this week, has been postponed.
This measure was taken considering that Choi Sang-mok, acting president and Minister of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, needs to focus on handling the airplane accident that occurred at Muan International Airport on the 29th.
A Ministry of Strategy and Finance official noted, "The announcement of the 2025 Economic Policy Direction will be delayed due to the Jeju Air accident." The specific schedule will be decided later.
Meanwhile, a Jeju Air Flight 7C2216 passenger plane, which departed from Bangkok, Thailand, and was landing at Muan Airport, veered off the runway and crashed into the airport's outer wall, resulting in a total loss.
There were a total of 181 people on the aircraft, including 175 passengers and six crew members. The passengers included 173 Koreans and two Thai nationals. As of 5:11 p.m. on the day, the National Fire Agency announced that 167 people had died and two were rescued.
