The localization of the cleaning process nano (nm, 1 billionth of 1 meter) grade filter, which is essential equipment for semiconductor processes but relied entirely on imports, has been achieved.

According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on the 17th, Sinofex, a nano-material component company, held a completion ceremony for a new production line at its factory in Dongtan, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, and will start mass-producing nano-grade filters for semiconductor cleaning processes.

The nano-grade filter for semiconductor cleaning is a filter used to purify impurities from cleaning chemicals. The performance of the filter is directly linked to the yield of semiconductors, making it a key piece of equipment.

With the trend towards miniaturization of semiconductor linewidths, the importance of the cleaning process that removes ultra-fine contaminants is growing.

The Ministry explained that with the completion of this production line, the ability to meet 100% of domestic demand for nano-grade filters for the cleaning process has been secured.

Filters produced here will be supplied to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix through cleaning equipment companies.

This project received 12.3 billion won in research and development funds through the Ministry's "materials, parts, and equipment collaboration model."

Yi Seung-ryeol, head of the industrial policy office at the Ministry, who attended the completion ceremony, said, "Collaboration between demand and supply corporations is essential for securing competitiveness in advanced industries and strengthening the supply chain," and added, "The government will expand investments to secure a super-gap in advanced industry research and development and supply chain stability."
