With the impeachment bill against President Yoon Suk Yeol passing the National Assembly on the 14th, government economic departments are also entering crisis management.
Vice Premier Choi Sang-mok, who also serves as Minister of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, plans to convene an emergency economic ministers' meeting at the government complex in Seoul on the afternoon of the 15th to address economic issues.
Following this, at the same location, a meeting with ministers responsible for external relations will be held to assess international trends. It is interpreted as a meeting to share information on the economic security situation and developments in neighboring countries, and to coordinate foreign security and economic policies.
After completing the two meetings, Vice Premier Choi will move to a different location to hold a meeting on macroeconomic and financial matters (F4 meeting). Besides Vice Premier Choi, Bank of Korea Governor Lee Chang-yong, Financial Services Commission Chairman Kim Byung-hwan, and Financial Supervisory Service Governor Lee Bok-hyun are expected to attend. The meeting will examine the volatility in financial and foreign exchange markets and explore response measures.
