The retirement ceremony for championship captain Hwang Jae-gyun of the KT Wiz in professional baseball was held on the 13th at Suwon KT Wiz Park.
Registered on a special roster for retiring players that day, Hwang Jae-gyun came to the plate as a pinch hitter for shortstop Kwon Dong-jin with one out and no runners in the bottom of the sixth, with KT leading 5-2. It was his first appearance in 345 days since the game against the Hanwha Eagles in Suwon on Oct. 3 last year. Not only KT's home fans but even Lotte's traveling fans applauded his appearance, and before stepping into the batter's box, Hwang Jae-gyun took off his helmet and bowed toward third base and first base in return.
