The memorial altar for former manager Baek In-chun, the "immortal .400 hitter," has been set up at the funeral hall of Dankook University Hospital in Cheonan.
Baek died on the morning of the 15th while being treated for a cerebral hemorrhage in the intensive care unit at Dankook University Hospital.
Transferred the previous day in cardiac arrest and remaining in critical condition, Baek was a towering figure in baseball who played for 23 years in the professional leagues of Korea and Japan.
In particular, in 1982, as player-manager of the MBC Blue Dragon, he hit .412, becoming the only .400 hitter in KBO League history.
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) said it will solemnly hold the funeral as the second-ever "KBO funeral" to honor the deceased's contributions to the development of professional baseball. Aug. 16, 2026
