The memorial altar for former manager Baek In-cheon, the "immortal .400 hitter," has been set up at the funeral hall of Dankook University Hospital in Cheonan.
Baek died on the morning of the 15th while receiving treatment for a cerebral hemorrhage in the intensive care unit at Dankook University Hospital.
Transported the previous day in cardiac arrest and remaining in critical condition, Baek was a towering figure in baseball who played 23 years in professional leagues in Korea and Japan.
In particular, in 1982, as player-manager of the MBC Blue Dragons, he hit .412, leaving his name as the only .400 hitter in Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) League history.
Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) said it would solemnly hold the funeral as the second-ever "KBO funeral," honoring the deceased's contributions to the development of professional baseball.
