In the afternoon on the 20th, a press conference for the national volleyball teams was held at Olympic Hall in Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul.
The press conference, held ahead of major international competitions such as this year's Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, was attended by men's team head coach Issanaye Ramirez and captain Hwang Taek-Eui, and women's team head coach Cha Sang-hyun and captain Kang So-hwi.
Women's team head coach Cha Sang-hyun had an approval from the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) rejected once due to issues with the appointment process, but after a reopened recruitment, received final approval and was confirmed as head coach of the women's national volleyball team. Players involved in the championship series and free agency are scheduled to join on the 27th, and An Hye-jin, who is embroiled in a drunk driving controversy, is likely to be excluded from the national team.
Men's team head coach Issanaye Ramirez has set participation in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics as the ultimate goal. Korea's men's volleyball will aim to qualify for the Olympic finals for the first time in 24 years through the 2026 Asian Championship, and target its first gold medal in 20 years at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
Chairperson Park Mi-hee of the association's Women's Performance Enhancement Committee leaves the venue. 2025.05.20
