The KT Wiz of professional baseball beat the defending champions, the LG Twins, to win the opener.
On Mar. 28 at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, KT exploded for 18 hits in the 2026 Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) League opening game against LG and won 11-7. KT set a rare mark as the sixth team ever to have every starter record a hit on opening day.
KT rookie Lee Kang-min collected three hits, tying the record for most hits by a high school–draftee rookie in an opening game. Kim Hyun-soo tied the all-time record for most opening day hits (20). KT starter Matt Sauer earned his first win after allowing three runs on five hits (one home run) and five walks with one strikeout over five innings.
