KT exploded for 18 hits to defeat LG 11-7 in the 2026 KBO League opener at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on the 28th. KT set the rare record of all starters collecting hits in an opener for the sixth time in history.
KT rookie Lee Kang-min had three hits, tying the record for most hits by a high school rookie in an opener. Kim Hyun-soo succeeded in tying the record for most career opening day hits (20). KT starter Matt Sauer earned his first win after allowing three runs on five hits (one home run) and five walks with one strikeout over five innings.
