A miracle in Tokyo. The Korea WBC national team advanced past the first round for the first time in 17 years.

Korea defeated Australia in a Group C first-round game of the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC) at Tokyo Dome in Japan on the 9th. With the result, Korea finished the group round at 2-2 and, by the lowest runs allowed rate, edged Australia and Taiwan to advance past the first round for the first time since 2009, a 17-year wait. Now Korea will board a charter flight to Miami.
