A miracle in Tokyo. The Korea WBC national team advanced past the first round for the first time in 17 years.

Korea defeated Australia in a Group C first-round game of the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC) at Tokyo Dome in Japan on the 9th. With the win, Korea finished the group round at 2-2 and advanced past the first round for the first time since 2009, 17 years ago, edging Australia and Taiwan on the fewest-runs-allowed tiebreaker. Now Korea boards a charter flight to Miami.
