A miracle in Tokyo. The Korea WBC national team advanced past the first round for the first time in 17 years.

Korea defeated Australia in a Group C first-round game of the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC) at Tokyo Dome in Japan on Mar. 9. With the result, Korea finished the group round at 2-2 and edged Australia and Taiwan on the fewest runs allowed tiebreaker to advance past the first round for the first time since 2009, a span of 17 years. Now Korea boards a charter to Miami.
