On the 9th at Tokyo Dome in Japan, the World Baseball Classic (WBC) Group Stage Group C game between Korea and Australia was held.

In Group C, Japan clinched first place in the group with three wins and advanced to the quarterfinals. Australia is 2-1, Taiwan is 2-2, Korea is 1-2, and the Czech Republic is 0-3.

For the Korea WBC national team to advance to the quarterfinals, it must beat Australia by at least five runs while allowing no more than two runs.

With no outs in the top of the eighth, Korea's Shay Whitcomb hit a double to left and is celebrating. Mar. 9, 2026
