Korea ultimately failed to snap its 11-game losing streak against Japan. Still, it was a textbook example of losing but fighting well.

Korea lost 8-6 to Japan in a Group C first-round game of the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC) at Tokyo Dome on the 7th. With the loss, Korea could not end its 11-game skid against Japan. Korea moved to 1-1 in group play, while Japan improved to 2-0.
