Japan announced a flawless start with a 13-0, seventh-inning mercy-rule victory in its first Group C game against Taiwan in the first round of the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC) at Tokyo Dome in Japan on Mar. 6. Japan earned its first win of the tournament, and Taiwan was pushed to the brink of elimination with two losses.
