U.S. memory chipmaker SanDisk is expanding engineer hiring in Korea. SanDisk ranks among the top five companies by revenue in the global NAND market.
On the 13th, according to the industry, SanDisk recently began seeking engineers to work in Korea through the global business networking platform LinkedIn. The hiring areas are firmware engineering, VLSI design, NAND core design, mask design, and NAND system architecture. The ranks range widely from intern to senior engineer, and the company mainly requires at least five years of experience.
In the industry, SanDisk Korea, SanDisk's Korean branch, has been operating with a focus on sales, distribution, and marketing, so the recent engineer hiring is considered unusual.
SanDisk posted an operating margin of 79.2% in the second quarter of this year. The industry interprets that as the artificial intelligence (AI) market expands, growth in DRAM and NAND is accelerating, prompting global companies to scramble for Korean talent. In the second quarter of this year, global NAND market revenue rose 70% from the previous quarter. Prices also climbed 55% over the same period. Earlier in DRAM, Micron, the world's No. 3 player, also launched experienced hiring targeting employees of Samsung and SK, joining the talent war.
