High Parking, the parking infrastructure and operations subsidiary of Humax Mobility, said on the 9th that it has built an AI-based smart video guidance system, "Ai-PAS," at the Seoul Station parking lot.
Ai-PAS uses 360-degree AI cameras to track vehicle movements in real time across the entire space, including drive aisles and parking spaces. The AI server analyzes video data to assess congestion and vehicle flow, and automatically controls on-site equipment such as electronic signboards and barriers based on the results.
The company also said that, unlike conventional ultrasonic or video guidance methods, it has implemented in the parking space the operating structure of physical AI that proceeds from perception to analysis, decision, and action.
When a vehicle enters the Seoul Station parking lot, Ai-PAS recognizes the vehicle individually and guides the route to an open space via smart signboards. Even if there is an open space, if another vehicle is already moving toward it, the system guides the driver to a different parking space. When exiting, it analyzes vehicle flow and guides drivers to the appropriate exit.
In addition, when a pedestrian approaches, a "watch for pedestrians" alert turns on automatically, and when crossing between vehicles is detected, a "watch for vehicles" alert lights up. On floors expected to reach full capacity, smart barriers automatically restrict entry and reopen when space becomes available. All decisions and controls are performed in real time by the AI video analysis server without separate human intervention.
Situations requiring manager response—such as suspected fire, bottleneck zones, violations of designated parking or parking zones, and suspected minor collisions—are also detected automatically and sent to the operations web and mobile application. High Parking said existing cameras can also be used for security monitoring and video recording, eliminating the need to install additional cameras and network video recorders (NVRs).
High Parking CEO Park Jun-gyu said, "Ai-PAS recognizes the entire parking lot as a single data space and acts on its own judgment, which puts it on a different level from existing parking guidance technologies in terms of scope of use," adding, "We plan to evolve into 'Infra(Parking) as a Service,' a V2I infrastructure that exchanges information in real time with Autonomous Driving cars and robotaxis."
